Birmingham marketing specialist goes it alone
John Giazzi, who is from Birmingham, has set up a new business specialising in being a company’s ‘virtual’ marketing department.
The company, JCG Marketing provides the same marketing support as you would expect from an internal marketing department, but on a flexible basis designed to suit individual needs.
John was a fulltime Marketing Manager until he was made redundant in April. However he pitched his concept to his employer who clearly liked it as they became a client.
John commented: “I realised the concept for JCG Marketing whilst going through the normal redundancy consultation procedure. It became apparent that even in a recession companies still require to market themselves, but not perhaps quite on the scale to justify employing a marketing specialist”.
John continued: “My previous employers were actually my second client as the company who printed my business cards instructed me first”.
John believes that the concept will be work because JCG Marketing makes having a professional marketer financially viable for many small businesses who can’t justify employing someone. It also provides companies with the added advantage of not having to deal with employment issues, sick pay, holiday pay and national insurance contributions.
